 Cluster news

Now that we have Bec handling participation in our work, we are ready to welcome more aboard. Neighbours are organising themselves to share expertise and resources - sadly Rabbit Sweep cannot provide on-ground services  - but finding that neighbours can help or be helped and clinics can help. (What are clinics?)

Some members have asked for something they can distribute to others who might like to work with us. You can print and distribute this document.

What are clinics?

We at Rabbit Sweep can help organise working bees, hopefully sharing of contractors where appropriate, and clinics. These are short sessions, probably on Saturday mornings, where a particular technique is considered. Tips and tricks make techniques easier and more effective.

The next two clinics are being organised right now - Sunday  Oct 18 for a working bee to learn about preparation for rabbit-proofing an existing fence by help at the Memorial Indigenous Garden. Saturday November 14 for a quick clinic dealing with fumigation of rabbits in warrens. Clinics are free for all cluster participants.

 General news

Good news from the August 2026 chronicle of the Centre for Invasive Species   Solutions (CISS):

In this edition, you’ll read the exciting news that CISS is leading a new $4 million national collaboration to future-proof rabbit biocontrol. Together with the Australian Government, CSIRO, state and territory governments and Meat & Livestock Australia, we are delivering Phase 1 of Australia’s National Rabbit Biocontrol Pipeline Strategy. This is an important step towards protecting Australia from the enormous agricultural and environmental impacts of rabbits, and our project team is already hard at work.

  Forthcoming events

Two clinics are currently organised for Sunday Oct 18 and Saturday Nov  14.

There is a hint that having a working bee to make one-way doors might be of interest. If you would like this, please let us know - especially if you can host such an event ().
