2025 Rabbit Sweep Blitz

a broom moving a lot of rabbits...

The Bellarine Rabbit Sweep Blitz will run from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm (for activities) and 12.00 - 2.00pm (for picnic lunch/'Bunnings Sausage') on Saturday May 10.

This free event aims to develop some new 'rabbit control cells'. Small groups of landholders will be assisted by experts with clearly defined rabbit control tasks and participants can engage with the relevant processes.

Several closely located venues will be open for participants to see in detail what is done, to ask questions, and to arrange with others to start up their own cell.

Each location will be concerned with a particular stage of the overall process of bringing rabbits under control, ranging from just getting to understand the problem and what can be done to the use of significant control strategies. At these locations, focussed demonstrations will be timed for 10.00 and 11.00 am. Participants can choose what suits them opic-wise and time-wise.

At lunchtime we will have a sausage sizzle and you will be able to chat to landholders who have successfully worked with neighbours to control rabbits.

Children will be welcome and the activities will not risk harming them. There will be no interaction with rabbits. Dogs, however, will not be welcome.

You are asked to register your interest and closer to the event your participation and the final plan for the activities and their location will be sent to you.

Bellarine property locations and further details about what to bring will be advised the week before the event.

This event is organised by Rabbit Sweep and is funded by the Partnership Against Pets program (Victorian Government) in partnership with Bellarine Landcare.
