A library application for the Rabbit Sweep
The Rabbit Sweep 'library' is to be a searchable catalogue of online resources that may be of interest or use to those trying to control rabbits. The library contains only descriptions of resources - the resources themselves are online, for free or in some cases with a cost. The library catalogue will help with searchs for relevant resources but also show what others using them have said about them. It will help publishers of resources improve them and, sometimes, identify resources that are not yet available or perhaps are not for use in Victoria, say. As resources are not the same as the descriotions of them, the library catalogue will depend upon entries being submitted by publishers or simply someone who finds the resource. The catalogue will be monitored to maintain a high standard of published submissions. There will be a simple search and an advanced search facility. There should also be a place for users to submit questions for which they have not been able to find a satisfactory resource or answer.
The catalogue will have up to 10 main categories of attributes and up to 10 values for each attribute. These will be used for searching and browsing:
- general info about the resource (text entry for submissions)
- title
- author (or authority)
- date of resource (if known, otherwise n/a)
- online location
- type of resource (video, research article, simple instructions, comments on content)
- accessibility (eg text description of images where appropriate)
- short description of resource
- email address of who added it to the catalogue
- comments on usefulness of the resource
- info about rabbits (checkboxes for submissions)
- why they are a problem
- lifecycle
- preferred diet
- preferred habitat
- rabbits vs hares
- rabbits and other invasive or native animals
- rabbits and invasive or precious native flora
- rabbit control methods (including difficulty and cost) (checkboxes for submissions)

- ferreting

- genetic manipulation
