Insurance cover for Rabbit Sweep participants
Landcare Victoria provides insurance cover for the Bellarine Landcare Group to protect the BLG. The cover also helps Rabbit Sweep participants.
because it includes:
- Public and Products Liability cover: Protects BLG if third parties suffer an injury or property damage as a result of BLG activities. It covers accidents occurring during BLG activities, such as slips and falls on premises, or damage caused by products manufactured, sold, or distributed by BLG. It includes compensation payments and legal defense costs if the BLG is sued for negligence.
- Voluntary Workers Personal Accident cover: Volunteers of all ages will be covered if accidental injury or death occurs whilst performing their duties. It protects volunteers if they are accidentally injured or killed while performing authorized duties on behalf of BLG. It covers volunteers of all ages (often up to age 90, with reduced benefits for older individuals). It provides financial compensation for medical expenses (non-Medicare), loss of income, and lump-sum payments for permanent disability or death. It does not require proof of negligence by the BLG, making it faster to respond than public liability.
This means there may be cover for participants if the conditions are fulfilled. Note that not all activities are covered.
