Rural land managers' attitudes, behaviour and involvement in rabbit control

"A project was conducted to quantify those attitudes of land managers in the Corangamite and Glenelg-Hopkins Catchment Management Authority areas which they associate with behaviours and actions that they believe will result in achieving long term control of rabbits, under the Victorian Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994. A random sample of 566 land managers was surveyed by telephone interview to determine attitudes under the themes of community responsibilities, control of rabbits and attitudes to government, and to gain insights into rabbit control activities about the control techniques used, behaviours and knowledge levels. From the results of the survey, recommendations were made towards improving community commitment, modifying attitudes to rabbit control and to government, promoting rabbit control techniques, and developing and implementing an extension program."
